Community Highlight: Lead The Challenge

What is Lead The Challenge?

The Lead The Challenge Softball League was established in 1997 as a means to bring a quality sports experience to children and young adults with disabilities. Founded by Mike Black, a major goal of the league is to bring the joy and camaraderie of team sports to children and young adults with disabilities. The league and its volunteers work hard to provide opportunities for new friendships, share the fun of competition, and give parents, caregivers, and family members the opportunity to watch their children participate in a team sport.

How does it work?

Every player is partnered with a peer player who is there to assist them in whatever they need help with. Specialized safety equipment and rule variances are utilized to create a safe and fun environment for all players, regardless of ability.

How can I become involved?

The Lead The Challenge Softball League is always looking for volunteer coaches, peer players, donations, and sponsors. More information can be found on the league website and Facebook page.
