Franklin Township is located in Marion County in the southeast corner of Indianapolis. Although Franklin Township is the last of Marion County’s nine townships to see significant suburban development, there has been dramatic growth in the township over the last decade with it being located right near the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana. Franklin Township is home to seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.

Parks & Recreation in Franklin Township
Franklin Township is home to Southeastway Park where visitors can participate in environmental education camps, their annual Bug Fest, and hayrides in the fall. This park has a variety of natural habitats, 80 acres of forest, a pond, wetland, open fields, a prairie, and Buck Creek. Visitors can enjoy the multiple playgrounds, sledding hill, 6 picnic shelters, and 2.5 miles of paved trail available for walking, running, biking, and strollers. When not hosting summer camps and seasonal programs, the Activity Center is available to be rented out for personal events.

For enjoyable family fun, a nice place to visit is Great Times, an amusement center with outdoor attractions and an indoor play land, or the Expo Bowling Center next door. During the Fall months, Hanna Haunted Acres is also a good place to experience a delightful fright.

With easy access to interstates 65 and 465, as well as 74, Franklin Township is easily accessible and a short distance for commuters, especially from Downtown Indianapolis. Located between Perry Township, Beech Grove, and Warren Township, the area contains the communities of Acton and Wanamaker and the eastern part of Beech Grove.
